Foundation Grants

The 2017 Grant Application is closed

Each year the Downtown Akron Kiwanis Foundation supports community nonprofits by awarding grants that aim to benefit Akron youth.  Our 2017 Grant Application process is now open.

Eligibility for consideration: The qualified 501(C)3's nonprofit's primary focus must be in Summit County and have been in existence for a minimum of two years.  Consideration will be given to all proposals meeting the required criteria outlined in the application.  However, the Foundation has strong interest in providing support to preschool, school-age and youth projects.

2015 Grant Awards

Each of the following have demonstrated their value in this community in providing service to children, and will receive a $1,000 grant by the Downtown Akron Kiwanis Foundation:

Children's Concert Series for In-school concert series

To provide program support of the In-school concert series, which will present 167 concerts by 15 performing groups and individual artists to over 32,000 students this year. 


First Glance Student Center, Inc. for Man Up 

To provide meals, mentors, and activities for at-risk male youth in the Kenmore community of Akron. 


Oasis Outreach Opportunity, Inc. for The WAY - Employed & Engaged in the World 

To provide resources and guidance to help 36 youth enrolled in The Way summer program, for those enrolled to complete high school, training and, when appropriate, post-secondary education. 


ShelterCare for Working on Wellness

To support creative and educational programming for youth in crisis shelter.


Victory Gallop for Rider Scholarships

To provide need-based partial or full scholarships for up to 12 children to participate in Victory Gallop. Children are ages 3 to 18, with emotional conditions, behavioral challenges and/or life-threatening illnesses.
